A Philadelphia DJ Fights for Autism

On Saturday April 4, 2009 the 4th Annual “We Are…Curing Autism Now” 5K Race/ 3K Walk will be held in State College, Pennsylvania (Penn State University).  Races have been held throughout the country and there is an annual 5K Race in Philadelphia every year.  The event is organized by Beta Sigma Beta Fraternity, Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Delta Tau Sororities.  In the first three years the race was held, it successfully raised over $450,000 for Autism research, and has registered over 3,600 racers.  As this year’s race coordinator, along with Jordan Blenner, we have made it our goal to add an entertainment aspect to the event this year.  We will be holding our first annual Autism Speaks U Carnival after the race and will have a DJ there to play music for the kids.  This event is so much fun and for an amazing cause.  You can register on our website at AutismSpeaks.org/u/psu.  You can register as an individual or join/create a team of your own.  My good friend is having his wedding at Penn State that same weekend, and his whole bridal party has signed up to run the race.   For the younger kids out there, as a Bar/Bat Mitzvah project you could help raise money for the Autism Speaks Foundation and have a great time in the process!  I hope to see everyone at our race on April 4, 2009.  If you are unable to make the race you can contribute right on our website.

Shout out to Cutting Edge Entertainment for posting this blog on this amazing cause, and I look forward to MCing your parties this summer!!!  If anyone has any questions regarding registration or donations you can reach me by email @ Jason.Shorr@psu.edu

Jason – a prodigy of mine – has been DJing with Cutting Edge Entertainment since he was fourteen years old.  He is one of our brightest young talents who, by the age of nineteen, had already performed as MC/DJ at hundreds of Sweet 16s, as well as Wedding and Bar & Bat Mitzvahs.  Jason is a source of great pride for us at Cutting Edge not only as a DJ but for his selfless and tireless work for the cause of Autism.

Jason is currently in his Junior year at Penn State University as a Marketing Undergraduate.
