Pumas At The Philadelphia Zoo

I recently had the opportunity to visit The Philadelphia Zoo and I was thoroughly impressed with the big cat exhibit ‘The Bank Of America Big Cat Falls.’  Unfortunately it was late, and we didn’t get to see the tigers, but the lions were out as well as a pensively pacing leopard.  What impressed me the most about this exhibit was how close we were able to get to the animals.  I took these shots of the pumas and I didn’t even use a zoom!  Yep… THAT close!

The puma holds the Guinness record for the animal with the most names, including mountain lion, cougar and panther.  The puma is indigenous to the Americas roaming from Western Canada to South America.  This is one impressive cat!

The Philadelphia Zoo is America’s first zoo, chartered in 1859, and is currently home to over 1,300 animals.
