May 5th is widely considered one of the busiest days in an entertainment company’s year, and I had the pleasure of spending mine as DJ and MC for the wedding of Melissa and Craig. The reception was held at the beautiful Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in the heart of Center City Philadelphia.
During our wrap up meeting, Melissa and Craig spoke of how – on the night of their wedding – all they wanted to do was dance. The request list was rather short, but they gave me the confidence that as long as I kept the music going, the guests would follow suit. I trusted they were correct and it did not take me too long to realize how much of a dancing crowd we had on our hands. The entire bridal party and the parents of the bride and groom joined Melissa and Craig on the dance floor and rocked with them to their introduction song! It was a perfect start to an incredible event!
One of the most important components to our success is the relationship we have with the bride and groom. For such a momentous occasion, the bride and groom need to feel comfortable and trust whom they put in charge of their wedding from the entertainment side of things. There is no written rule or formula for this, but rather we at Cutting Edge feels it comes naturally to us. It is as simple as being ourselves that makes all the difference in the world, and allows for such a tremendous experience for the Bride and Groom.
Melissa, Craig and I were able to form that connection with three simple words, Sea Isle City. It is a beautiful town, right off Exit 17 on the Parkway, and leaves a mark on all of the people who stop by for a visit. Sea Isle is a huge part of their lives, and sharing stories of drinks and dancing at the Ocean Drive, to putting our hands on the ceiling on Sunday Fun-day with Secret Service, the connection for the three of us became easy.
The folks at the Marriott did a great job (as always), and were instrumental in the success of the day, working well with myself and the other event professionals. Additionally, thank you to the wedding photographer Amie Schroeder who was not only a pleasure to work with but was kind enough to provide her amazing art for this blog post.
To Melissa and Craig, I thank you for allowing me to be such a huge part of your day. It was amazing getting to know the both of you and I know I will run into you down the shore sooner or later. Congratulations guys and go birds!!
