The Crystal Tea Room Wedding of Shoshana and Adam

The planning and execution of any wedding is a testament to the effort put in by every person – wedding professional or otherwise – involved in the production chain. From the caterer, the photographer, the DJ and –of course – the Bride and Groom, each facet of an event must be handled with care and diligence. This process becomes even easier when the Bride and Groom are both event pros! The nuptials of Shoshana and Adam were unlike any wedding I had the honor of performing as the Wedding DJ, and likely remain so in the future.  The ceremony and reception were held at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia, a magnificent world-class venue with a rich history.

If the faces in the pictures here in this blog post seem familiar, it’s because those smiles are also spread across this website. Both Adam and Shoshana are senior members of the Cutting Edge Entertainment family and this was their chance “to sit on the other side of the table”. Having thirty years of event experience between the two of them made this a simple party to plan and an even easier party to rock! The Bride and Groom came prepared with music, ideas and the mindset ready to “celebrate”.

Romance filled the air during their “in the round” ceremony with classic tracks from Michael Buble (Everything), Van Morrison (Crazy Love) and Cake (Love You Madly) to help set the tone for everything that came after. Working alongside a Bride and Groom who have a solid concept in their minds, as well as a long history of music knowledge, allows a DJ to open his music collection a little further than usual. Adam also tapped our fearless leader and the owner of Cutting Edge Entertainment, Craig Sumsky – the preeminent music guru –  to help design a customized music program for their cocktail hour… a wise choice.

At the conclusion of the cocktail hour, I lined up the bridal party while the guests were seated and then commenced with the lively and festive introductions of their parents, bridal party and of course the newlywed bride and groom. After a brief opening dance set, a crowd-pleasing Hora (love the look on Adam’s face in the chair…priceless moments!), a few heartfelt toasts and a delicious dinner, it was time to break the dance floor.

We spanned the music timeline through the course of the reception, from Motown to Freestyle to the current dance hits of today sprinkled with a few choice tracks in between. The crowd danced and danced so much that even when Shoshana and Adam slipped away for their secret cake cutting, the dance floor remained packed with guests.

I’d like to thank Kevin from Kevin York Photography for allowing us to feature these beautiful images in our blog post. You never cease to amaze! And also a big thanks to the folks at Finley Catering and the team at CinemaCake. It’s always a pleasure and an honor to work with such an all-star team of wedding professionals.

But most of all, thank you Shoshana and Adam for entrusting the biggest night of your lives to me. It was a great honor working with you and I am extremely proud to see you take the next step…we’ve been waiting a while. Best of luck in your marriage!

P.S. The kids can wait a bit…
