In October 2016 I was the Wedding DJ for Sydney and John’s wedding reception. The party was held at the Reading Terminal Market, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sydney and John were a fun, outgoing couple, whom I had a blast working with. As a Wedding DJ it’s important to play all sorts of music from all different genres and eras including many diverse artists. Many brides and grooms are concerned with making sure we play a little bit of something for everyone. In my opinion four to five hours is more than enough time to keep everyone happy, whether it be with Big Band, Jazz, Motown, Rock and Roll, or Top 40, I have no problem fitting it all in. This was very important to Sydney and John, simply because as in most wedding receptions, their guests varied in both age and musical taste.
This was a wedding that I was anticipating for months, because I knew it was going to be a blast. I have worked and have attended events before at the Reading Terminal Market, and it’s always nice to work at a unique venue. Once cocktail hour ended, we brought everyone together and began our introductions. The parents, bridal party, and bride and groom each had came out and the guests were cheering so hard it almost overpowered the music. Once the first dance and toasts were finished, everyone enjoyed an amazing meal courtesy of the food vendors at the Reading Terminal Market. Once dinner ended, we quickly got everyone out on the dance floor. I played everything from “I Can’t Help Myself” by The Four Tops to “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson as well as tons of other great party hits in between. The bride and groom were out on the dance floor nearly the entire night, along with their roughly one hundred guests. It was a great time for all.
Sydney and John are amazing, and I enjoyed getting to know them before the wedding and it was awesome to be a part of their celebration. I look forward to staying in touch with them as they begin their lives together as husband and wife. As always, it is a pleasure to work at The Reading Terminal Market. Sarah and her staff are always professional, easy to work with and they do an outstanding job. I also had the opportunity to work with Emily of Emily Wren Photography, who – as always – took some phenomenal images. I appreciate her letting us feature them here on our blog.
A few weeks after her wedding, Sydney posted the following testimonial on Wedding Wire:
From the first time we met with Richie at Cutting Edge, we knew he was the perfect DJ for our wedding. He was very responsive and helpful during the planning process, offering recommendations and tips to make our event a success.
During our wedding, Richie played the perfect mix of songs and kept all of our guests – both young and old – dancing all night long. He also went out of his way to play the music we liked, which was a special touch on our big day.
A big thank you to Richie and Cutting Edge Entertainment for making our wedding perfect.
