The High Point Wedding of Erin and Dan

The High Point Wedding of Erin and Dan

On Saturday May 21st, I had the pleasure of working with Erin and Dan at the stunningly beautiful High Point in Malvern. Although it was my first time at this venue, the vintage-styled barn facility is absolutely breathtaking, and wowed me when I first walked in. Both sides of the venue were lined with windows that displayed the stunning landscape at High Point, and served as an amazing backdrop to the wedding reception.

The tone of the evening was set early as far as the dancing was concerned just after the heartfelt Father/Daughter dance when Dan and his mom took to the floor for their Mother/Son dance. Usually, the groom picks a song for he and his mother and they share their sentimental moment. However, Dan and his mother decided to spice it up a bit and after a minute and a half of “My Wish” by the Rascal Flatts, they broke out in a choreographed dance to “Uptown Funk”.  It was the most original mother son dance I have ever seen, and they certainly gave the party some extra “umph” before the dancing went into full swing.

The dance floor was packed from the moment that the dinner service ended, and remained that way as we worked our way through the years and genres of music. We hung in the 90’s for a great deal of the night as it was both Dan and Erin’s favorite era, and relived them through some Jock Jams and the timeless classic (old-school) Hip-Hop. Their energy and commitment to the dance floor truly made for an extra special party, because when the bride and groom are out there, their guests are certain to follow.

As part of my usual microphone banter, I explain the great dilemma when it comes time for cutting the cake. It is a crucial moment in the newly married couple’s life when they face their biggest decision as a couple, to be naughty or nice? As the above picture reveals, they chose to be naughty and smash the cake in each others faces… moments the Photographer captured perfectly.

Adrienne from Adrienne Matz Photography was a pleasure to work with as well as the staff from Queen of Hearts Catering.  It takes a great team of wedding professionals to make a reception great, and I could not have asked for a better team that day.

Looking back on the party, with all the dancing and great music being considered, the thing I will take away is truly feeling in the presence of love. This is nothing really revolutionary for a wedding, because of course that is the atmosphere. But something stood out with them. It was something so wonderful to be a part of and to see.

As for Erin and Dan, I wish you many years of health and happiness and I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to be such a big part of your day. Do not forget about our Sea Isle deal!

All the best,

~ DJ Steve
