In February of 2014 I was the Wedding DJ for Amanda and Michael’s wedding reception. The party was held at the Chester Valley Golf Club, in Malvern, Pennsylvania. I met Amanda and Michael months prior to their wedding. We sat for about an hour in our office going over what they are looking for with the music for their reception. Like most people I meet with they know some songs they want, but were also looking for help from me to fill in some of the blanks. When a couple decides to book Cutting Edge Entertainment for their wedding, we make it clear that our job begins months before the actual day. We spend hours with our clients on the phone, via email, and in our wrap up meeting going over music. While some other professional Wedding DJ companies may just have the bride and groom fill out an online planning guide, I feel part of my job is to make picking out the music as easy and fun as possible.
When the big day finally came, my assistant DJ and I arrived at Chester Valley Golf Club about two hours before the start of the ceremony. We quickly got set up and settled in, before the roughly one hundred and fifty guests arrived. Being prepared is paramount to success. The ceremony was held on the property, and we were happy to provide a microphone for the Officiant and the vows. Sometimes, when having your ceremony, it is nice to have a microphone to guarantee everything is heard by all attendees. Following the ceremony we provided music for the cocktail hour, but were very conscious of the volume of our music. Of course we want people to hear the music we are playing, but, at the same time, we don’t want people shouting at each other as they are trying to mix and mingle. Once cocktail hour was over, guests headed into the ballroom, where we introduced the parents, bridal party, and our bride and groom. Once we introduced Amanda and Michael into the room, we had them begin their first dance.
Amanda and Michael are definitely both party animals, and they really wanted all of their guests to have a great time. They picked the right Wedding DJ for the job, because getting (and keeping) people out on the dance floor happens to be my specialty. I played everything from “Shout” by Otis Day and The Knights to “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, and everyone had a blast. One thing remained the same… It didn’t hurt that this crowd was ready to go as soon as dinner was over, and did not stop until the reception came to a close.
Now, of course, I can’t take all the credit for the success of the party. I worked together with a great staff at Chester Valley Golf Club, who did a great job and were easy to work with. Great food is a key element to a successful party, and the food was outstanding. I also worked alongside Aaron and Bryan of Aaron Mitchell Photography. They took some great pictures from the party. As always they rocked, and I can’t wait to work with them again.
A few weeks after the wedding the bride was nice enough to post the following testimonial on Wedding Wire…
My husband and I used Richie Abrams from Cutting Edge Entertainment for our wedding, and we could not have been happier. Our meetings with Richie were fun but productive, and each time we left feeling even more excited for our big day! Richie helped us plan every detail for our reception. He also provided beautiful music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and some awesome lighting for the reception. Richie’s goal was to keep the party going and make sure everyone, especially the bride and groom, were having a fabulous time. He certainly did that, and so many guests have told us that he was the best DJ they have ever seen at a wedding! Everyone had a fantastic night thanks to Richie! We found Richie through a recommendation from a friend, and we would absolutely recommend him to anyone else.
Thank you again to Amanda and Michael for choosing Cutting Edge Entertainment as your Wedding DJ, and wishing you both all the best life has to offer.
