Michelle and Shawn’s Beach Wedding

dancing Shoes

Every once in a while I have the honor of being the DJ for a good friend’s wedding.  That was the case on July 20th, when I packed my gear up and headed down the shore for Michelle and Shawn’s wedding.  I have known for Michelle for many years, ever since I started working at Cutting Edge Entertainment.  She was one of our party motivators back in the day and she rocked at it.  Although Michelle moved on many years ago, we still keep in close touch.

Bride and Groom

Michelle and Shawn had their wedding on the beach at the Deauville Inn, in Strathmere (Cape May), New Jersey and admittedly, this was my first ever shoes-optional reception.  The ceremony was held by the bay, where I not only provided the music, but also a microphone for the Officiant and vows.  After the ceremony concluded there was some time for guests to grab drinks and food as others enjoyed the view of the water.   We then started off the reception with the bride and groom’s first dance which was “Back at One” by Mark Wills.  Instead of having a traditional sit down dinner, they had a simple barbecue which everyone enjoyed.  Once dinner ended the dancing on the beach started.  I was a little nervous that the dance floor was sand, but once my first set was over I had no doubt this was going to be an epic party.  I had a lot of fun playing all different types of music, but my favorite part was getting to do my Michael Jackson set.  This started with “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” to “Billie Jean” and ended with “Wanna Be Starting Something”.

Thank you so much to Michelle and Shawn for letting me share a part of your special day, and another big thank you to Joel Werline Photography for sharing the images, for this blog post.

I was happy to see the following testimonial a few weeks after the wedding reception on Wedding Wire…

If you are lucky enough to have Richie Abrams DJ/MC your wedding, you are guaranteed a good time! Our guests remarked that music was “seamless”, and that the dance floor (of sand!) was PACKED from start to finish! He’s professional, personable, and a warm hearted young man! He will plan an event catered to your needs, and no one will be disappointed! I recommend Cutting Edge Entertainment one billion percent!!
