On July 13th, I had the privilege of being the MC and Wedding DJ for the wedding reception of an amazing couple, Brian and Denise. From the time we got together for the final wrap up, I knew that this wasn’t going to be your typical wedding. Brian had a very specific song list that he had wanted played and unique formats are always challenging and exciting. The song list consisted a great deal of Reggae and The Grateful Dead. As a DJ, I am always up for a challenge and this would certainly be a test. Reggae is fairly easy, but The Grateful Dead was going to be a little bit tricky, yet Tony – one of our other DJ/MCs who was my DJ assistant on the event – put our heads together and really made it work. Brian (the Groom) asked us to play a few of the songs at the end of the night and that is what we gave him. It also worked out well for their friends and family, and all had a great time.
The Glen Foerd Mansion staff (Conroy Catering) was a pleasure to work with and they helped me to keep the party flowing throughout the night. Brian and Denise had a great time with their friends and family and I thank them for letting me be a part of it. Whether Denise was up dancing with her friends or Brian was hanging out with his friends, they both had the biggest smiles on their faces the entire night. As a DJ, that is all I can ask for on their wedding day.
As I meet with all of my clients, I always want their feedback on what will work for their friends. While I, as the DJ, have ideas of what will work, the bride and groom know their friends and family the best. I will always play what is requested by the bride and groom. After all, it is their special day! I didn’t think that it would work and I would have definitely been wrong.
I wish Brian and Denise many years of health and happiness and know that I will see them again in the future. Congratulations to the both of you!
