The fun and excitement for Adam and Theresa’s 10.10.10 wedding began months prior to their reception at our first meeting in the DJ offices of Cutting Edge Entertainment. During my first meeting with them we talked about how they envisioned their big day, and what we could do to exceed their expectations in terms of entertainment. We discussed their favorite genres of music, shared some laughs while watching videos on YouTube, and brainstormed to come up with creative ideas to set their wedding apart from the many others their friends and families had attended.
The more Adam and Theresa spoke and interacted with each other and myself, the more excited I became to be a part of their wedding, and I could tell it would be fun from a DJ perspective. They were so fun, energetic, and original I knew their reception was sure to be extraordinary. As the meeting progressed we discussed all the elements that they were looking to incorporate, and how we could work out the timing so that the night would flow smoothly.
When the day finally came the couple was blessed with beautiful weather, which allowed them to get some amazing shots on the gorgeous grounds of The ACE Conference Center. As Adrienne Ingram of Element Photography took pictures of the couple and the bridal party the guests began to arrive to enjoy cocktail hour on the lower level, complete with a slide show of the happy couple, and Wii (which was a huge hit with the younger guests). As cocktail hour came to a close the guests moved to the second floor and entered the ballroom to wait for the newlyweds to be introduced.
Theresa is Hungarian and Nigerian, and her family and friends are spread out all over the world. They had guests flying in from Hungary, Nigeria, Ireland, and California just to name a few. One of Theresa’s brothers was unable to make the wedding which she was of course disappointed about. To overcome this they decided to Skype him so that after Adam and Theresa were introduced he would be able to watch their first dance together. The things that can be accomplished through the use of technology is amazing.
After their first dance Theresa’s brother had a surprise for her and Adam, which was a song that he wrote and put together along with a video that we projected onto a screen for them. Her brother also got to see their reaction via Skype which was an incredibly touching moment.
Dinner was served promptly by the staff of The Ace Conference Center, after which Theresa and Adam had yet another surprise scheduled; this time for their guests. I called the guests attention to the dance floor, and out came Adam and Theresa in traditional Nigerian attire to dance to an authentic Nigerian song. Their outfits matched, and were a huge hit. They looked great!
The happy couple and their guests danced the rest of the night away. Everyone had an incredible time, and even though there was a ton of logistics involved the entire affair ran smoothly with the assistance of an extremely organized event planner, Renee Grande. This was the first time I had the opportunity to work with Renee, and it was truly a delight! It felt as if we had an addition to our team, and it made the entire reception flow seamlessly.
I wish Adam and Theresa the best of luck and a long, happy and healthy marriage. All in all, if I had to rate the reception, I’d give it a 10-10-10!
